Toe Rings
| This is a seriously funky chart – a party on staff paper. A funky Prince-like guitar riff sets the groove and the brass section ushers in the melody. There is a lot of back and forth interplay in the ensemble and some fun bari sax/bass trombone licks as well. Lots of solo splace for tenor sax and trumpet with simple chords to work out on. A drum solo follows the horn (or rhythm) soloists and that leads to a layered horn section that builds to an ensemble shout chorus. Tension is released by a return to the opening guitar riff, melody recap, and tag ending. Trumpet rage is to written High C. |
