"That's what we call a Texas 2. Anywhere else, that's a 3" is what we were told by one director and that seemed like a great title for this chart. Accessible ranges and just a little more technique in the horns, plus a 24 bar sax soli lead into an open solo section (written solos provided). A Count Basie "soft shout" chorus follows which builds to a hard-swinging riff shout to show off the dynamic range of your ensemble. Trumpet range to written G. Trombone to F. Piano and bass parts are written out.
