Not Your Momma's Samba
| The full ensemble gets us off to a high energy start and then the alto sax and trumpet take over to present the melody of this smooth uptempo samba. The trombone section jumps in for the bridge before the trumpets make their majestic return to finish out the form. A 16 bar montuna builds in layers to send off the alto sax soloist who is followed by a trombone soloist and leads us into the entire trombone section trading fours with the drums/percussion. The trumpets join in for two more passages before the saxes take over with their section soli. The trumpets return with the final statement of the melody and lead to the big finish. Trumpet range to written High C, optional brief high Db. |
