| This chart was commissioned by the King William Jazz Collective in San Antonio, TX. The assignment was to write a “happy shuffle” and you can’t help but tap your toe and smile as you listen to this chart. It opens with a Count Basie style piano solo before the ensemble sets up the trombone/tenor sax melody. Solo changes are provided for tenor and bari saxes along with trombone. An acapella ensemble section follows the soloists and sets up the roaring shout section when the rhythm section returns. Trumpet range is to written high C, trombone range is to G. |
